What Is A Virtual COM Port?
The presence of a DB9 comm. port on PC’s and other devices is rapidly disappearing. They are being replaced by USB ports. If your application requires you to extract data from a classic Serial or COM port that no longer exists then the USB Bluetooth application software will automatically generate a comm. port. That is where the data goes. The ZBA USB/SERIAL Bluetooth adapter will also generate a Virtual COM port as will a USB to Serial adapter. It is called Virtual COM port because a DB9Male port does not physically exist.
